In the Old
Testament, when you think of a Biblical portrait of someone resolved to prayer,
no more vivid picture can come to mind than that of Daniel. In prayer we will have a reward,
but there will be some resistance.

Daniel 6 will
teach us that there is no substitute for prayer, and also there is a need for
prayer. But it is no dutiful drudgery...there also is a joy in prayer.
Prayer has gotten
a bad rap lately, as "thoughts and prayers are not working",
some may say. Today we will see even Daniel felt some rejection from people,
but more importantly, he knew there was a reception from God.
Rejection should not dissuade us from prayer.

Today's devotional
is about finding someone who will respond in your time of need with a
resolution to pray for you. When all else fails, you are not powerless. Your
resolve will result in God's response.
Resolving to pray
does not guarantee a righteous lifestyle, but helps. The same God who is loving
is also equitable and just, and He does send a righteous retribution to those
who oppose Him. Prayer helps us leave retribution in His hands.
Over the past
five days, we saw ten lessons in Resolve to Pray. But do we see this in Christ?
Indeed we do, in this portrait of Christ in His 40-day prayer in the wilderness reveals.
