2. Radiance of Prayer

When Christians have a vibrant prayer life, it shows. There’s a glow about a person who has been in prayer with God. Maybe not physically, but spiritually prayer affects us. In this second portrait of prayer, Moses radiates the reflection of spending time with God.

When we are in a good relationship and a close fellowship with God, including an intimate prayer life, it glows. Once we have repented, confessed and forsaken our sins, we are ready to have a close and intimate relationship with God, and our lives will be spiritually radiant! Can you see that glow? A good relationship will be a glowing relationship.

A radiant prayer life which comes by legalism is fading, but a radiant prayer life which comes by liberty is forever. It is not based on the external practice, but the internal presence of God. But the brighter the light, the more we see our imperfections and long for His perfection in us.

A holy reverence comes within us when God's righteousness is revealed and realized within us. With His presence and essence, we cannot deny that we have been with Jesus in prayer. We are to be real with God, but we must have reverence. We must honor Him as God.

God's radiance glory can only be received in prayer when our heart rests in Him. Our prayer closet is the gateway to God's throne of Grace. Our quiet times are His Holy of holies. Being yoked with Christ is a restful communion with God. Time with Him gives radiance in our actions and attitude. Peace is not from the world but from time with Christ in prayer.

The Transfiguration glowed more radiance than merely in Christ's face. On that mount was a transcendence of the Kingdom of God, a transformation foreshadowing our future estate, but also our inward metamorphosis. Through the Holy Spirit of Christ dwelling in us, we have the essence of Emmanuel, God with us. But radiance is not for us to keep for ourselves, but to share with others.

The radiance of the Transfiguration shows how prayer can change us. Jesus was physically transformed while praying. Christian believers are to be inwardly changed from the inside out, not from the outside in. We are to be transformed by the renewing of the mind. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God,” (Romans 12:2).
